gentlemen,
I have the honour to acknowledge the receipt of your
letter of even date and the enclosure. I all be glad if you
inform Mr.Bowley -without prejudice
-
as follows :-
-
his motives
I entirely acquit him of personal animus
doubtless were most laudable. But I contend that the letter
libelled me in a public print and therefore I must ask for
an apology through the same medium. Further I fail to see
why I should pay my own costs for the privilege of being
libelled. He must pay. on such basis I am always ready to
withdraw.
-
unless
This you will doubtless throw into legal forma
you think it an unwise step, in which case I will call and
@ you.
R• Hale leaving you can no doubt expedite matters. But
is'nt the paper and not tue man responsible? Evidence could
be given on commission?
Yours fai tafully,
E.W. Hamil ton.
